Happy Wednesday, y’all. My how this season is flying by. To add to the crazy festivities of the month; we (very spontaneously) decided to put our house on the market this past weekend and have put a contract on a new house. As if keeping a house chock full of Christmas decor clean for our own purposes and managing a very busy social calendar wasn’t enough; we now enjoy the fun of running out of the house on a moments notice so that prospective buyers can tour. That reminds me … I absolutely must post some pics of THIS house before we move on to the next one!
Now, to the matter at hand. A few weeks back (has it really already been a few weeks?), I was anxiously anticipating the start of the Christmas season with our annual Black Friday brunch. Last year’s brunch was such fun and you can see some pics over here, so I just couldn’t wait for this little get together on the day after Thanksgiving again this year.
A few friends joined me as we caught up on the latest news, shared shopping tips and enjoyed a few kid free moments together. Oh … and some fab cocktails too! The decor was simple and so was the menu. I dolled up my well appointed bar cart with champagne, wine and fixings for mimosas and girly drinks. We noshed on cheese straws and Byrd’s key lime cookies for starters, a strawberry spinach salad, Southern Living’s Sausage Grit casserole (soooo good!) and a Rosemary Lemon cake for dessert. Bestie A was her normal darling self and showed up with an amazing box of the very finest local fav Dutch Monkey Donuts. Salted caramel donuts and strawberry napoleons? Yes, please!
The table was dressed with glass and silver accents and a versatile piece of black polka dot burlap that I had on hand served as our table cloth. I was able to truly just keep my white cloth from Thanksgiving on the table and just pop this over top. I took the table arrangement of fresh flowers from Thanksgiving and repurposed them into several smaller arrangements in mint julep cups. Over all, it was great fun and a fantastic kick start to our holiday season!
I love any excuse to celebrate the holidays and brunch is my all time have … so this is the perfect reason to party around these parts!
