MAKE: Tailgate Tubs

Well, this past week kicked off that joyous occasion that is celebrated around the country, and especially here in the south.  That’s right folks, it’s time once again for football season!  Tailgates, parties, spirited outfits, fun food and festivities make this one of my favorite things.  There are few things I love more than crisp fall Saturdays spent cheering the day away (Go Jackets!)

When Lil B moved into the toddler class at school a few weeks back, I took special note that Mrs S and Mrs AB are both avid SEC football fans.  While their schools aren’t the one’s you will find me rooting for (UGA and Auburn), I did whip together a special little treat to wish their first tailgate and team a prosperous season.  Yes, can you believe it?  As much as it pained me to celebrate anything UGA, Mrs S is one special lady and given how fab she is … it was deserved.

These little tailgate tubs made the perfect start and were delivered by Lil B (and moi) on the first game day of the season.  The ladies loved the sweet surprise and I did catch a glimpse of the gals at the administration desk swooning over them too.  I’m pretty sure these would make a great surprise treat for any football fan and can easily be customized into your team’s colors.

To prepare, I found the baskets at the dollar store (totally cute and versatile, I might add) and filled with a few treats for tailgating and spirited fun.  The tub included paper straws, napkins and a set of table top confetti; all in the team’s colors.  I added a sweet little individual bundt pound cake topped with a cream cheese frosting glaze and coordinating sprinkles in a bakery box.

All of this was pulled together with a paper pennant that can be used in SO many different ways and an adorable chevron bow.  Needless to say, these were a HIT and a must do again!  Hmmm… what hostess gifts do I have to give coming up?  These are perfect!
